Marinated Fried Shrimp'n Grits
with Chilau Citrus Glaze
There is nothing that compares to Shrimp'n grits! With this recipe, I decided to take it a step further by frying the shrimp and using a Citrus Glaze also use in the Snapper Recipe. Topped over grits the flavor excellent!
Ingredients
- Chilau Citrus Seafood or Pepper Sauce
- 1 lb Royal Red Shrimp or choice
- 1 Large Navel Oranges
- 1 Cups Cornmeal
- 1 Cup Bread Crumbs (Panko)
- 1/2 Cups Chopped Garlic
- 4 Tbsp Green Onion Flakes
- 1/2 Cup Seafood Stock
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1 TSP Butter
Preparation
- Use half of the Garlic and onion flakes and add to raw shrimp with squeezed orange juice (1/2) and Chilau Sauce
- Marinate 12 to 24 hours
- Mix Cornmeal and Bread Crumbs and coat shrimp in batter
- Deep Fry from 350 - 375 until golden brown and crispy
- ***Citrus Glaze*** Add Olive Oil, garlic and onion flakes to pan and saute for 5 minutes (when garlic begins to turn brown add liquids to avoid burning)
- Add 1/4 Chilau Sauce, seafood stock and honey then simmer on low heat for 10 minutes
- Add salt to taste Top over fried shrimp Enjoy!!!!!
